A Quiet Return to Mukwa
Two nights in March on the lower Zambezi. The river was high, the elephants were back, and the new bar — somehow — is exactly the same.
When Mukwa first opened its doors in 2019, we were sceptical. Another river camp on a stretch of the Zambezi already crowded with options. Six years on, we have a clearer view.
The rooms have weathered well. The deck — always the strongest feature — has been re-thatched. The kitchen, under a new chef, is finally the equal of the setting. Most importantly, the staff who made the place worth visiting in the first place are still there. In African hospitality, that is the rarest signal of a property worth your time.
